Here’s an interesting one: Musicovery. Give it a think: can you imagine something like this applied to a library/information browse scenario?
Are you suggesting we deliver information content to the students based on what mood they’re in? Some suggestions:
No work today,
1 hr to deadline,
all nighter (exam next day)
Coo, what a good idea! But think about, say, replacing the tabs by ‘Libraries’, ‘Online’, ‘Other data’ (ie repository, other non-library indexed data); the moods by ‘research’, ‘taught’; and the genres by LC main classes.
Not necessarily best examples and you might not get sweet music, but something else might pop up!
There is something so appealing about the interface that it begs you to browse around and explore new stuff you would never think of listening to normally. If we could translate a smidge of that feeling into the catalogue we might find library users were far more willing to explore collections than we currently think.
Yes, and they might even enjoy the exploration experience too. Clicking on a tag might return a list of ranked records; it would be nice to be able, say, to slide tags and records into a box to be posted to Facebook, Delicious, whatever, as well.
In my dreams! Wonder what our academics would think of this?
